Join Professor Gina Neff and Amber Heard’s lawyer Jen Robinson at the Tortoise newsroom for a deep-dive into the world of online disinformation and its effect on all of our everyday lives.

12 June 2024 | 18:30 – 19:30 BST | Tortoise Newsroom: 22 Berners Street, London W1T 3LP

In a year when four billion people are heading to the polls, and with the World Economic Forum warning that online misinformation is the most severe risk the world faces, ‘Who Trolled Amber?‘, a six-part podcast series from Tortoise, shines a light on the shady industry of social media manipulation. The series looks at whether Amber Heard was targeted by an organised trolling campaign when she accused her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, of domestic violence – and if so, who might have been responsible for it.

Our Executive Director Professor Gina Neff will join Alexi Mostrous (Tortoise Investigations Editor and host of #1 hit podcasts Sweet Bobby and Hoaxed) for a ThinkIn on ‘Who Trolled Amber?’ and how bots and trolls can sway opinions from celebrity trials to general elections. Prof Neff will be joined by human rights lawyer Jen Robinson who represented Amber Heard during the Depp v Heard trial in 2022.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the murky world of online disinformation or loved listening to the ‘Who Trolled Amber’ series, join us in the Tortoise newsroom.
