Alexa Hagerty examines the human rights cost of using facial recognition to identify the dead in Ukraine.

This week, Alexa Hagerty, Affiliate of the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy,  has written an article for WIRED, about the use of facial recognition technology on the battlefield in Ukraine.

In the article, Alexa explains how the government is using Clearview AI to identify fallen Russian soldiers, and how this deployment distracts from face recognition’s dangers, paving the way for lethal autonomous weapons.
