Watch Prof. Gina Neff’s keynote session from the Office of Scholarly Communication, Cambridge, on the future of open access and the impact on freedom and democracy.

What is the relationship between open access and freedom and democracy?

We find ourselves in a moment where the relationship between technology, society and information is changing.

It’s a time where our belief in truth and facts seems fragile, but also a time where we have seen a rapid transformation in the speed and scale with which information can be shared.

As we make scholarly communication more widely available, we are seeing an expansion in the ways people can interact with knowledge.

So what is the relationship between the ability to access information in society and the ability to have a functioning and healthy democracy?

Listen to Prof. Gina Neff discuss our information environment and the role of open access.
